Manchester City ready to complete the signing of Jack Grealish
According to reports from The Athletic, Manchester City are set to complete a deal for Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish.
Jack Grealish, 25, has been linked with a big-money move to Manchester City all summer after a solid 2020/21 campaign with Aston Villa. After being in a relegation battle in 2019-20, the Villans finished 11th last season.

The 25-year-old playmaker was undoubtedly Aston Villa’s best player, making 16 goal contributions to enjoy his career-best tally. This resulted in Grealish being called up to the England squad for Euro 2020 by Gareth Southgate.
Now that the European Championships are done and dusted, The Athletic claim Manchester City are full prepared to trigger the Aston Villa star’s buyout clause, with personal terms having already been agreed.
Villa have already signed Emi Buendia from Norwich City in a club-record deal last month. Yet, Dean Smith’s club are keen to hold on to Grealish and have offered him a new contract, but it seems they are going to lose their most important player to the cash-rich Sky Blues.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants to make a couple of quality additions to his already strong squad ahead of his team’s title defence. Along with Grealish, Guardiola is eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in a bid to replace the departed Sergio Aguero. However, a deal for Kane on top of Grealish’s potential transfer appears unlikely this summer.
The Cityzens are now focused on getting a deal for Grealish over the line. Guardiola is a long-term admirer of the England international, who is currently one of the Premier League’s most exciting players.
Grealish is a quality player who would be a smart fit in Guardiola’s system at the Etihad Stadium because of his ability to play out wide or in the no.10 position. The England international would also get the chance to win major honours every season with City, whilst showcasing his talent and skill in the coveted Champions League.
All in all, the Sky Blues completing a deal for Grealish would undoubtedly make them stronger next season.
