Manchester City face Wolves competition to sign USA superstar
By Aditya Kumar
According to recent reports from Daily Mail and the Sun, Manchester City are set to face stiff competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Fulham’s USA left-back Antonee Robinson.
With Benjamin Mendy failing to live up to the hype at the Etihad and now linked with a move to Inter Milan, Pep Guardiola wants to bring Robinson to provide cover for Zinchenko who is set to be City’s starting left-back next season.
The 23-year old joined Fulham last season from Wigan Athletic and even though was one of the shining stars for Fulham, he could not prevent Scott Parker’s side from getting relegated.

In the 2162 minutes that he played in the premier league this season, he averaged 3.82 crosses per 90, out of which 1.04 crosses were directly into the box. These numbers are one of the best in Europe for left-backs. Unfortunately, he didn’t have anyone to finish these chances for him, hence was unable to register any assists. (via fbref)
Wolves are also looking at Robinson for the same reason. With Jonny Otto suffering two serious injuries last season and is reported to miss the start of the upcoming season, new Wolves manager Bruno Lage wants to bring in a new left-back to cover for him as Marcel and Ait-Nouri have failed to do that.
Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the youngster and since he is available for only 10 million pounds, he will be ready to counter any offer that the midlands side put on the table.
Though Robinson may be attracted by higher payroll and the chance of playing under one of the best managers in the world at Manchester City, he would know that it is at Wolves that he will get more regular game time.
Do you think Robinson will be a good signing for Manchester City?
