Manchester City are all set to miss out on one of their transfer targets this summer as Arsenal are likely to sign Ben White this summer. Reports have now confirmed that the Gunners are favourites to land the Brighton star and are soon expected to secure the signature of the Englishman.
The 23-year-old was initially touted to move to the Etihad in the ongoing transfer window. However, with recent developments, it has been said that Arteta’s side may well have the last laugh in this transfer deal.
This might be a blow for the Sky Blues who were hoping to add in some strong defensive reinforcements this summer. At present, the Cityzens do have a solid list of centrebacks at their disposal as their bench consists of Aymeric Laporte, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias.
The Premier League holders are although keen to add more steel to their backline as they prepare for their upcoming season. Pep Guardiola will have to tread carefully this summer as his team could yet lose another star defender in the shape of Laporte who is said to be frustrated with his limited game time at the club.
Currently, White is on international duty with the Three Lions for the ongoing European Championship. The Englishman was selected as a replacement for Trent Alexander Arnold after the Liverpool star injured himself in a friendly against Austria last month.

The Brighton star is yet to make an appearance in the competition but has managed to receive praises from Andros Townsend as he said :
"“Even before he played for England, I knew Ben White was a top player.”“I’m surprised he wasn’t in the original England squad because I think he’s the perfect player that Gareth [Southgate] wants. He’s calm and composed on the ball, he can play out from the back."
Arsenal are yet to make an official announcement about White but are expected to complete the transfer after the conclusion of Euros. Although, should the Gunners fail to secure the services of the English international, the likes of Everton and Manchester City can join the race for the signature of the 23-year-old.
These are exciting times for the Brighton star as he has already had the exposure of representing his national side in a big competition. The upcoming season, too, could see him move to a better club and can provide him with the opportunity to improve his game at the highest level.
