Manchester City are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new faces in the transfer market as manager Pep Guardiola looks to freshen up his squad before their title defence.

The Sky Blues have been linked with a host of players, including Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish. It remains to be seen whether or not they will make official bids for either of the two English stars, who are currently on international duty at Euro 2020.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

The English champions have seen Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia run down their contracts and leave on a free transfer to Barcelona last month.

It is an open secret that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants Harry Kane to replace the departed Sergio Aguero at the Etihad Stadium.

Eric Garcia’s exit has weakened the club’s defensive depth, which Guardiola must also address during this transfer window.

As per reports from Turkish news outlet Posta, Manchester City have joined the transfer race for Leicester City’s highly-rated defender Caglar Soyuncu.

LaLiga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen on the centre-back, but he wants to continue playing in the Premier League.

Caglar Soyuncu, 25, has slowly but steadily become one of the Premier League’s top young defenders. Having joined Leicester City from SC Freiburg in the summer of 2018, he has stepped in well since Harry Maguire departed for Manchester United and has developed into a reliable player for Brendan Rodgers.

He played all three games in Turkey’s hugely disappointing Euro 2020 campaign, with Senol Gunes’ side getting eliminated from the group-stages itself. Nevertheless, Soyuncu has adapted well to the Premier League and wants to continue playing in England, which would put Manchester City at an advantage if he decides to leave the Foxes, Posta reports.

The Turkish international still has two years remaining on his current contract with Leicester. According to Turkish Football, the Foxes are in no rush to sell but have set a valuation of €60m for their star centre-back.

At Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has three top-class centre-backs in Ruben Dias, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte. When fully fit, Nathan Ake is a solid defender, but he’s yet to prove himself at the Etihad Stadium.

If Laporte, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona, leaves this summer, City could do well by replacing the Spanish international with Soyuncu.

However, it remains to be seen how concrete City’s interest is and whether they would be willing to meet Leicester’s valuation of €60m for the Turkish defender.
