According to recent reports from the Manchester Evening News, Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are the front runners in signing Manchester City striker, Lukas Nmecha.

Nmecha, who spent the recently concluded season on-loan with the Belgian club Anderlecht, has been made available for a transfer by the Sky Blues as they look to free funds to bring Harry Kane to the club.

Even though RB Leipzig are the favourites in signing the U-21 German Starlet, other Bundesliga clubs including Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart have also made enquires and even initial bids with the club.

The 22-year old who just won the Under-21 European Championship was also linked with a move to Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht, but amid links to the Bundesliga, he confirmed his departure via an Instagram post, where he said:

“I’ve had a fantastic year at Anderlecht and loved every second. The manager, players and fans have been great to me. Anderlecht will always be in my heart and I’ll always be grateful. But I have to move on. Thank you.”

Lukas Nmecha was expected to be the next big thing that comes out of Manchester City’s youth academy, but unfortunately, it never worked out for the youngster at the club.

He made his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup Clus against Leicester City in 2017 and even scored one of the penalties in the shoot-out. He made his premier league debut a few months later, coming on as a late substitute against West Ham.

He failed to show his true potential in loan moves to Preston, Wolfsburg and Middlesbrough and only bloomed under ex-Manchester City captain in Belgium.

With a reported, 10 million pounds bid for the German, Lukas Nmecha is more or less confirmed to leave the Etihad.

He will be missed at the club and he would always be considered one of them.
