According to The Athletic, Manchester City star Bernardo Silva would like to leave the club this summer for a new adventure.

Bernardo Silva, 26, netted five goals and laid on nine assists on top of that for Manchester City in 2020/21 campaign, helping Pep Guardiola’s side reclaim the Premier League title and reach the Champions League final.

However, regardless of his improved displays after a tough 2019/20 campaign, the Portuguese international is keen on leaving the Sky Blues this summer.

The Athletic claim Silva had his heart set on a move to Barcelona last summer and everything looked set to go through, only for the deal to collapse late on.

This left the creative midfielder ‘crestfallen’; however, Silva has been professional throughout the last campaign and is ready to end his time in Manchester this summer, the report adds.

One sticking point could be Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who wants Silva to stay at the club. Silva, who has four years left on his contract after signing fresh terms at the Etihad Stadium in March 2019, is likely not to be short of suitors.

He is currently on the radar of Atletico Madrid, with the defending LaLiga champions proposing a swap deal to City that would see central midfielder Saul Niguez head in the opposite direction.

The Portuguese attacker was the Sky Blues’ Player of the Season during the 2018/19 title-winning campaign and has remained one of Guardiola’s most reliable figures, on and off the pitch.

A fans favourite since joining City from AS Monaco in 2017, Silva saw reduced game time during 2020/21 campaign, starting just 26 league games as opposed to 34, 36 and 35 the previous three seasons.

After four glittering years at the club, the 26-year-old remains keen for pastures new. Guardiola will loathe losing a sublime talent and a professional like Silva, but there’s no point standing in a player’s way that has given everything for the club.
