According to Spanish publication Diario AS, Manchester City have joined the transfer race for Borussia Monchengladbach star Florian Neuhaus.

Florian Neuhaus, 24, is one of Bundesliga’s exciting midfield talents whose performances for Borussia Monchengladbach for the last few seasons have been consistent. He is currently with the German national team for the Euro 2020 competition.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

Diario AS claim the central midfielder is a potential summer transfer target for Liverpool, as Jurgen Klopp looks to replace Georginio Wijnaldum, who recently sealed a switch to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

Neuhaus is valued at around €40 million, with Liverpool understood to be negotiating with the Bundesliga club for his signature, the report adds.

Neuhaus’s displays for Borussia Monchengladbach have also caught the attention of Bayern Munich and Juventus. Manchester City also are interested in the German international, who is expected to leave Borussia-Park after the club failed to secure European football next season.

Regardless of enjoying a highly successful 2020/21 campaign, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants to further bolster his squad. In a bid to turn City’s domestic dominance into Europe, Guardiola is ready to sell some of his first-team stars as well as fringe players to make space for new faces.

A few changes could be witnessed in City’s midfield, with Fernandinho’s name appearing on the Premier League’s released list and Ilkay Gundogan reluctant to commit his future at the Etihad Stadium following interest from Barcelona.

Even if Fernandinho remains at the club for a ninth season, as Manchester City feel confident he will sign a one-year contract extension, Guardiola should strengthen his midfield unit in the summer having never really replaced David Silva following his exit last summer.

The news of City entering the race for Florian Neuhaus will no doubt come as music to the ears of the Cityzens given the youngster’s sublime talent and potential. Not to forget, Neuhaus is strongly wanted by Klopp at Liverpool, while the midfielder is also on the radar of Bayern Munich and Juventus.

In City’s case, however, it remains to be seen how concrete their interest in the Borussia Monchengladbach starlet is. If there’s anything tangible from the English champions’ side, it is likely to become hot only after the Euro 2020.
