Manchester City stance on superstar revealed amid rumors of a switch to Arsenal
Raheem Sterling was one of the talking points this season. The Englishman was a regular starter in the first half of the season but soon lost out on his place in the XI to the rising star of Manchester City in Phil Foden.
Phil Foden has more or less become untouchable in the XI and the future of Raheem Sterling in the club has been thrown up in the air. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club in search of minutes.

Arsenal are said to be among the list of teams interested in signing the former Liverpool man. Though there has been no indication of the type of transfer fee that the Premier League champions would like to secure to part ways with the winger, a move to London is a real possibility for Sterling.
Talking about the situation surrounding Raheem Sterling, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, talking to the Arsenal Longue, revealed that an agreement between City and Sterling hasn’t been reached yet over a new contract. It is understood that the talks have been going on but officially, they are yet to begin.
"“They need to negotiate about the contract,”“They are talking, not an official discussion with [Raheem] Sterling, but they are talking with people close to the player. They still have no agreement.”“They need to decide about extending his contract, or maybe selling him this summer. At the moment, Pep Guardiola is still in the position of wanting to keep Raheem Sterling. But he’s out of contract in two years, so they need to decide this summer if they want to extend his contract or not.”Source: Arsenal Lounge"
Sterling is out of contract in 2022 and so it means that City will need to sell him this summer if an agreement isn’t reached over new terms. Having said that, Pep Guardiola is said to be in favor of keeping the England international at the club.
Coming to Arsenal, the transfer is a possibility for the Gunners if the new contract talks between Sterling and City fail and the player could well be on the move this summer.
"“I’m told with Arsenal it is not something advanced, but it could become an opportunity during the market, as there are different moments. There are moments where you do your strategy where you have your priorities, but there is also the moment with opportunities.”“Sterling could be impossible now because Pep wants to keep him and they want to discuss about a new contract, but maybe during the summer it could be an opportunity.”Source: Arsenal Lounge"
In the last few weeks, Sterling has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid with the Los Blancos said to be keeping a close eye on him. Eden Hazard has been a flop at Real Madrid and the former La Liga champions are now said to be looking at alternatives.
