According to a report from the Daily Mail, Portuguese playmaker Bernardo Silva has attracted interest from top clubs in Spain, France and Italy, as Manchester City look to polish their squad during the summer transfer window.

Manchester City are planning to rebuild their squad after failing to win the coveted Champions League, losing 1-0 to Chelsea in Portugal last month.

The wounds of the Champions League defeat are still fresh, and despite winning the Premier League and the Carabao Cup this past season, the Sky Blues will aim to bring in quality players during the transfer window, as stated by club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak earlier this week.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

That being said, the likes of Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez have been put up for sale this summer, the Daily Mail claim.

Manchester City are looking to raise funds, particularly for a new striker following the departure of prolific goalscorer Sergio Aguero on a free transfer to Barcelona.

Thus, Sterling and Mahrez are just some of the bigwigs City are ready to sacrifice to boost their summer transfer kitty ahead of the planned squad rebuild.

In addition, Bernardo Silva could also make his way out of the Etihad Stadium, having attracted interest from a number of top European clubs, the report adds.

Bernardo Silva, 26, has been an important figure under Guardiola since joining from AS Monaco in the summer of 2017, lifting three Premier League titles, four Carabao Cups and one FA Cup. However, the creative midfielder, who is contracted to City until the summer of 2025, didn’t have the best of seasons as he managed just five goals and nine assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

The Portuguese international, nevertheless, remains a fabulous player who will not be short of suitors should Manchester City make him available in the transfer market, seemingly along with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez.

It remains to be seen whether Silva is sold or not in the upcoming window, but one thing is for sure—the Cityzens will make a statement of intent ahead of the new campaign.
