Sergio Ramos hasn’t yet agreed to a contract extension with Real Madrid as an agreement hasn’t been reached yet with the Los Blancos president Florentino Perez. Manchester City have been keeping close tabs on this situation for quite some time and look all set to make their move for the Real Madrid skipper this summer.

Ramos, 35, will be out of contract at the end of this month and will be free to negotiate with other clubs as a free agent. Having said that, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are said to be interested in landing the Spaniard.

ESPN reports that City are planning to offer the 35-year-old a two-year contract this summer with an option for a third year or a move to MLS.

Wages are not likely to be an issue for the Premier League champions who house one of the largest wage bills in the game.

It is understood that Ramos is open to continuing at Real Madrid but the former Premier League champions’ policy of not offering a year-on-year extension to players above 30 years of age at the club is something that the Spaniard is not fond of.
Ramos wants to stay but wants to be handed a 2-year extension. However, as it stands, Ramos has only been offered a one-year extension.

Manager Pep Guardiola is said to be in favor of signing Sergio Ramos because of the experience of the Real Madrid skipper. Guardiola believes that Ramos’ experience at the back of the line will be a major bonus for the Premier League champions. The former Barcelona and Bayern boss is also counting on Ramos to form a successful partnership with Ruben Dias who has been nothing short of sensational this season.

Sergio Ramos might or might not sign an extension with Real Madrid but one thing is clear, City’s defence has been one of the best this season and John Stones has revived his career. It will not be a missed opportunity if Ramos stays in Madrid or chooses to go to PSG.
