Nuno Mendes has been linked with City for a while as the position of the left-back in the City XI continues to be a cause for concern for Pep Guardiola.

Oleksandr Zinchenko stepped up at the right time and took his chance and it is likely that the Ukrainian will be starting in the club’s maiden UEFA Champions League final. The same thing cannot be said for the next season however as there is no surety.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

After a slow start to the season, City eventually gathered enough momentum to take back the Premier League title with ease.

It is understood that Pep Guardiola is willing to look past Benjamin Mendy as the Frenchman has hardly featured this season due to injuries, illness, and poor form.

With the 26-year-od being highly injury-prone and with Zinchenko having his first season where he had to play a major role, it is perhaps a good time to bring in reinforcements for the next season.

Express reports that City are targeting Sporting CP’s Nuno Mendes and are closing in on sealing the £60 million transfer this summer.

Nuno Mendes is regarded as one of the brighter prospects in the backline and can be the potential solution to the CItyzens’ perineal left-back problems.

Sporting CP are understood to be firm on their stance to not let the 18-year-old leave for less than his buy-out clause i.e, £60.25 million.

With four years left in his current contract, it will be tough to negotiate with the Primeira Liga champions.

Manchester United are also said to be on the market for the Portuguese wonderkid but the Red Devils are having second thoughts about the deal because of the £60 million price tag.

City will have to spend wisely this summer as the Premier League champions need to bring in a new striker for the next season.
Sergio Aguero is all set to leave the club after a decade and the Argentine showed precisely what the Premier League champions would miss out on. Coming off the bench with less than 30 minutes to play, Aguero managed to get a brace for himself and was very close to finding the back of the net for the third time.

Aguero’s brace showed that City need a striker who is lethal in front of the goal and can score whenever there’s a goal required.

Harry Kane has been linked with Manchester City for a while now and it will be interesting to see if the Cityzens manage to land the Englishman.

However, it is going to be a complicated deal with Tottenham for the 27-year-old.
