Manchester City targetting La Liga superstar this summer

With the summer window looming, Manchester City have been linked with a series of big names and Todofichajes suggests that the latest entrant in the list is Barcelona’s, Sergi Roberto.
The full-back has endured a tough season at the Camp Nou and is likely to be shown the door this summer or will be asked to accept a pay-cut.
With a new manager rumored to arrive in Barcelona, Roberto’s future is certainly in the air as it is unlikely that he will get enough game-time, with president Joan Laporta mentioning that the squad is at an end of a cycle and that some key decisions will be taken in the coming weeks. \
Barcelona could only manage a solitary win in their last five games, forcing them to bow out of the La Liga title race.
With the former La Liga champions immersed in debt, Joan Laporta will be eager to settle the club records as the Blaugrana are also in the race to sign Erling Haaland next season. With the Norweigan striker having a release clause of £75 million, Barcelona would hope that they would be able to convince the 20-year-old to make the move to Spain.
The asking price for Roberto is set at £25 million. With the Premier League champions said to be interested in the 29-year-old, the asking fee is certainly not too much for an experienced player like the Spaniard.

It is understood that City boss Pep Guardiola wants Roberto as one of the full-backs in the squad.
Roberto earns £10 million every season and his high wages have certainly been a problem for Barcelona who are having financial troubles of their own.
City will certainly hope to negotiate a pay-cut with Sergi Roberto as the player hasn’t been delivering performances worth £10 million/year in recent times.
