Manchester City suffer a MASSIVE blow in their Erling Haaland pursuit
For long, Manchester City have been heavily linked with Erling Haaland over a potential move to the Etihad Stadium for the Norweigan striker this summer.
Haaland, 20, is regarded as one of the brighter prospects in European football and is the UEFA Champions League top-scorer this season. That itself speaks a lot about Haaland and his capabilities.
Though his potential is not yet fully realized, it is dangerous to think about the deadly finisher that he could become in the near future.

It is no surprise that the Dortmund striker is on the radar of many clubs. The likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Manchester City are said to be interested in signing the prospect.
It is understood that Dortmund would be willing to listen to suitable offers but in no case will the former Bundesliga champions accept a bid less than £130 million for the 20-year-old.
A six-way race for the 20-year-old’s signature could force the bid up to £150 million.
Another option for the clubs in the race would be to wait for another season before cashing in on the £75 million release clause in Haaland’s contract which only gets activated next summer.
However, the only disadvantage about taking the second route is that it would all boil down to the player’s choice and ambitions then.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta is said to be a huge fan of Erling Haaland and bringing him to the Camp Nou is said to be one of his “top priorities” this summer.
Though the Blaugrana find themselves in a £1 billion debt, it is understood that funds would be arranged with the help of a new investor. Moreover, it is reported that Haaland’s contract would be for five years to allow the former La Liga champions to pay out the entire value of the player to Dortmund over the course of five years.
As per The Sun, Barcelona are willing to sacrifice Lionel Messi to bring in Erling Haaland. Messi is the world’s highest-paid footballer and him either accepting a new contract with his wages halved or not agreeing to a contract at all would generate funds required to bring in the Borussia Dortmund star; at least to a massive extent.
Moreover, the idea of becoming a crucial part of one of the most successful teams ever alone could tempt Haaland into joining Barcelona; who is already reported to be in favor of a move to Spain.
Having said that, Barcelona are expected to go all-out this summer for Erling Haaland. The officials at Blaugrana believe that they will only get one chance to sign the 20-year-old.
