Manchester City monitoring Inter Milan’s star striker
According to 90min, Manchester City are among a top few European clubs keeping tabs on Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez.
Lautaro Martinez, 23, has developed into a key player for Inter Milan since joining from Racing Club in the summer of 2018. He has enjoyed a superb season with the Nerazzurri, registering 18 goals and eight assists in 36 Serie A appearances, whilst combining remarkably with strike partner Romelu Lukaku and playing a vital role in helping his club end an 11-year title drought.

The Argentinean international’s fine performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with Chelsea and Liverpool also interested in his services, 90min reports. Inter Milan are facing financial problems, and as a result, a major sale this summer may be required to ease the situation they find themselves in, the report adds.
Romelu Lukaku, who has been in unbelievable form throughout the season, has already attracted interest from top European clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City.
While Antonio Conte’s Inter would love to keep hold of both Lukaku and Martinez, the latter looks more likely to bid adieu the San Siro, the report explains.
Newly-crowned English champions, Manchester City will lose Sergio Aguero on a free transfer at the end of the season. Aguero, City’s most prolific goalscorer and decorated player, will leave the Etihad Stadium after a decade and he’s certainly going to create a huge void in the squad that Pep Guardiola must fill in the summer.
Given Aguero’s goalscoring prowess, experience and status at Manchester City, it’ll be very difficult to find a like-for-like replacement for him. Gabriel Jesus was signed from Brazilian club Palmeiras in January 2017 with the thought of him eventually succeeding the diminutive Argentinean. However, Jesus hasn’t done enough yet to prove he’s that player to fill the big-sized gap Aguero will soon leave behind.
Thus, the Cityzens’ links with Lautaro Martinez shouldn’t come as a surprise. At 23, Martinez is already rated as one of the best strikers across Europe and is only going to get better with time and experience. He has scored 48 goals in 130 appearances in all competitions for Inter, whilst banging 10 goals in 19 appearances for Argentina so far.
A lethal finisher inside the box, Martinez has all the tools to succeed at City. The Argentinean international has proved himself in Serie A, and could be available for around £70million due to Inter’s financial constraints, the report claims. Keeping that in mind, the Sky Blues must not let a special player in Martinez slip away from their hands.
