Sergio Aguero is arguably the greatest player in Manchester City’s history and their most prolific goal-scorer. The Argentine is all set to leave the club after a decade and by doing so, he will be leaving behind some massive shoes to be filled.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

City have played a key part of this season without a striker. The likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, and Ilkay Gundogan at times have been employed as a number nine. Though the trio has performed well, it doesn’t hide the fact that Manchester City still do require a proper striker as they are a team that challenges for the quadruple.

Gabriel Jesus was bought in 2017 and was looking all set to take over the goal-scoring duties from Sergio Aguero. The Brazilian however, has had to endure a particularly tough season as he seems to be short on confidence. The very fact that Pep Guardiola has chosen not to rely on him in the big games is a predicament for the 23-year-old.

Jesus has been given ample opportunities this season but he hasn’t made the most of it.

GiveMeSport reports that City are now interested in turning to Romelu Lukaku to solve their number nine woes.

The Belgian has been in red-hot form at Inter Milan and has found the net 21 times this season. Not to forget, the former Manchester United man has also recorded 9 assists this season. In short, Lukaku is one of the reasons why Inter Milan won the Scudetto this season.

Naturally, Inter Milan would not want to part ways with their premier goal-scorer. It is understood that Inter Milan have slapped a £105 million valuation for the club’s interested in signing the 27-year-old.

Manchester City have been linked with Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, and Romelu Lukaku in the recent past. Kane and Haaland do serve as better options for the club as Kane is a proven performer in the Premier League while Haaland has already managed to list himself as one of the topmost strikers in European football despite being only 20 years of age.
