According to famous Italian football journalist Gianluigi Loncari, Manchester City are the latest Premier League club to join the transfer race for Leeds United winger Raphinha.

Raphinha, 24, has been a revelation at Leeds United since arriving from French club Rennes in October 2020, right before the transfer window was about to slam shut. He has adapted quickly to the high demands of English football and has been one of the shining lights for the Whites, who have performed really well upon their return to the top-flight this season.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

With his pace, trickery, energy and unpredictability, the Brazilian wide-man has been a nightmare for the Premier League defenders.

He has predominantly played on the right-wing this term, nicely fitting into Marcelo Bielsa’s high-pressing, attacking side and contributing with six goals and as many assists in 26 league appearances.

Raphinha’s dazzling performances for the Elland Road outfit haven’t gone unnoticed, with Manchester United and Liverpool also interested in signing him, Loncari tweeted.

Meanwhile, Manchester City will lock horns with Chelsea in this season’s Champions League final at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Turkey. With Carabao Cup already in the bag and the Premier League title all but wrapped up, Pep Guardiola will be desperate to guide City to their first-ever Champions League trophy this season.

It looks like Guardiola has already started planning for the summer transfer window. Apparently, the Manchester City boss is interested in recruiting a winger this summer, with Raphinha emerging as a target of late.

Raphinha has been one of the most exciting players to watch in the Premier League this campaign. However, City’s interest in the Leeds United star is slightly surprising as Guardiola has a plethora of attacking talents at his disposal.

The tricky Brazilian would be in for a lot of competition if he was to move to the Etihad Stadium, with the Mancunian club already boasting the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Ferran Torres, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, and Raheem Sterling, although the latter’s form has fallen off a cliff.

Considering the number of wingers Guardiola has in his richly-built squad, If Raphinha was to arrive at City in the summer it would certainly mean that one player departs, and Sterling, who is been linked with a move away to Real Madrid, appears to be the most likely candidate at the moment.
