Manchester City are all set to make their maiden UEFA Champions League semi-final appearance since 2016. City are one of the contenders for the coveted trophy but their opponents in Paris Saint-Germain are right up there alongside the Cityzens.

More from Champions League

PSG came very close to lifting the UCL title last season but were beaten by a better side in Bayern Munich in a closely fought final. The Parisians have got a chance to redeem themselves as they take on the Carabao Cup winners. Pep Guardiola and his men are desperate for European success and it is going to be a very stern test for the Manchester-based outfit.

Speaking ahead of the crunch tie, Mirror understands that PSG superstar Neymar Jr. revealed that he is at his happiest best at the Parc des Princes. The 29-year-old also said that he will do everything in his power to beat Manchester City to boost PSG’s hopes of winning their first-ever UCL title and to break his UCL trophy drought.

The 29-year-old is also in the running for the prestigious Ballan d’Or along with his teammate in Kylian Mbappe. The likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are also in the reckoning for the award. The Brazilian however was quick to say that his priority is to win the UCL and is not focusing on winning the Ballan d’Or himself.

The former Barcelona star also spoke highly of his teammate, Kylian Mbappe, and revealed that it is his desire to see the Frenchman succeed at the highest level.

"Some people think wrongly about me. But I will do everything I can, professionally speaking, to win this game. This season we beat Bayern and will do everything we can to beat Manchester City. They are a great team to play against. It will be a tough game. Want to play as well as we can.I feel great. I feel happy. I will do everything to lead the team towards the final tomorrow.I’m happy this season. I’ve been, by far, my happiest this season. My main objective is the Champions League, not the Ballon d’Or, that is not a priority. There is a reason why PSG is part of the top six teams. We really want to win the Champions League. We got to the final last season. We have really improved this year and we want to keep improving. We’re playing better and better. Last year we reached the final, this year we will try to do better. We’re working towards victory. I said at the start of the season my main goal was to win Champions League. We have to keep working in order to achieve that.Source: Mirror"

Both the teams are evenly matched on paper and it is going to be an arm-wrestle across the two legs. City have looked at their best this season and so have PSG in recent times. The teams lock horns on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes and it is fair to say that both the teams are long overdue for a UEFA Champions League title.

Manchester City recently lifted their fourth successive Carabao Cup and are very close to becoming the champions of England. Having lost the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea, the hopes of a quadruple are certainly dashed but a treble is still very much on the table.
