Manchester City looking to land €15M rated Ajax star this summer
Manchester City’s ongoing issues at left-back isn’t a new thing. In the past couple of years, all of Benjamin Mendy, Angelino, Zinchenko and Joao Cancelo have played in that position, but none of them could convince Pep Guardiola.
As a result, City are rumoured to be entering the transfer market again, and as per the latest developments from Spanish newspaper Diario AS via Football Oranje, the Cityzens are monitoring Ajax star Nicolas Tagliafico.

It won’t be the first that City have been linked to the Argentine defender, he’s been on the club’s radar for quite some time, however, it seems the Sky Blues have finally decided to go out all guns blazing and get their man this summer.
It won’t be an easy task though, as Ajax have named an asking price of around €15M for the 28-year-old, with Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Leeds United also in the running.
Manchester City monitoring Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico
For the unversed, Tagliafico’s current contract runs until 2023, so Ajax will be under no pressure whatsoever to sell their player, which City will have to shell out some cash to lure the Dutch club.
Tagliafico has been putting in some stellar performances in Ajax’s famous colours this season, racking up a total of 38 appearances, with a solitary goal and three assists to his name.
The Argentine loves to bombard forward and would be an ideal player for Pep Guardiola if Manchester City are able to snatch him up from under the noses of various other suitors.
Manchester City’s persistent issues at left-back
It’s been a long time coming, ever since Benjamin Mendy failed to nail down his place in the playing XI, Guardiola has been forced to look at various alternatives. The Frenchman’s persistent injury problems and combined with his off-pitch issues have created a void that needs to be addressed.
At 28, Tagliafico is entering his prime, and his price tag is also modest when compared to the inflated transfer market.
City have been facing problems in the left-back position for quite some time now, and perhaps, now is the right time to perform a surgery and address the issue, rather than bandaging the same wound again and again.
