The last two days have offered a lot for football fans across the globe to process. Manchester City were all set to be a part of the highly controversial and unpopular breakaway concept of the European Super League. The Cityzens however pulled out of the “cynical” project due to growing pressure from the fans as well as the players.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

It is time to, however, shift the focus from what may be described as a war on football, to the rumor mill.

Manchester City superstar Sergio Aguero is all set to leave the club after a decade at the end of this season. The 32-year-old will walk out as a free agent and is being linked with a move to the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona.

Caught Offside understands that the Argentine is very close to finalizing a deal with the Blaugrana this summer after being heavily linked with the Catalan giants in the recent past. Having said that, it is very believable that Aguero would decide to join Barcelona post his tenure at the Etihad Stadium.

Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi share a very intimate relationship and the Blaugrana will do almost anything to keep their main man. Signing his close friend and Argentina teammate in Aguero would be a good way to convince Messi to stay. Moreover, Barcelona has lacked a proper striker ever since Luis Suarez left the club last summer.

With the number of chances that the Blaugrana creates in the attacking third, Aguero has the ability to nail those chances down and that is something that Barcelona needs desperately at this stage.

It is understood that Aguero is close to agreeing to a two-year deal and is reportedly willing to take a pay-cut to join the former La Liga champions.

Aguero is the record goal-scorer of Manchester City and qualifies as a club legend by all standards. The 32-year-old now looks all set to win his fifth Premier League title with the Sky Blues this season before calling it quits on his time at Manchester City.
