Manchester City’s hopes of becoming the first ever English club to secure a quadruple in a single season ended when they were forced to bow out of the FA Cup semi-finals. The former Premier League champions simply didn’t turn up for the match and were consequently beaten by a better team in Chelsea yesterday.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

All does not end here though. The Premier League is Cityzens’ to lose and the fight for the UEFA Champions title is still on. A tricky phase is in store for the Sky Blues as the team looks no longer stable as it was in the early part of the season.

Raheem Sterling has been one of the highly notable exclusions made by Pep Guardiola in the last few games and that it ultimately boils down to the drop in intensity and form of the Englishman. It’s fair to say that Sterling is no longer untouchable in the current City set-up and Caught Offside understands that the 26-year-old has jumped into the radar of Real Madrid in the last few days.

The La Liga Champions are expected to enter the market this summer for a new forward and Sterling is believed to be one of the options. Eden Hazard’s stint at Real Madrid has been riddled with injuries and bad luck and that has just prolonged the Los Blancos’ search for a long-term replacement of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Though Real Madrid have also been heavily linked with Kylian Mbappe, it is likely that securing the services of the Frenchman will be on top of the priority list of the La Liga Champions.

Raheem Sterling has been an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s set-up in the last few years and the 26-year-old is said to be very close to agreeing to a contract extension in the coming days.

It is highly unlikely that Madrid will go for Sterling this summer as they are believed to be well equipped to spend the big bucks on the likes of Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe or both.
