European and PL rivals circling Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero
Manchester City and Sergio Aguero shocked the internet when they decided to part ways after 10 years, a period filled with trophies and memories. Sergio Aguero has been arguably City’s most consistent and successful player but with the 32-year-old battling numerous injuries and COVID-19 this season, the number of his appearances has been largely restricted to only eight games. Out of those eight appearances, Aguero has started in only four.

With Aguero walking out as a free agent this summer, clubs aren’t ready to miss out on one of the most lethal finishers in the history of the sport and Todofichajes understands that Arsenal are the latest entrants in the list of the clubs trying t convince Aguero to join them. Furthermore, the source also believes that the Gunners are in the prime position to land the 32-year-old.
Barcelona are another club that are closely linked with the Argentine. Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero are national teammates and the duo shares an intimate relationship. With questions being raised over the future of Lionel Messi as well, club president Joan Laporta is open to the idea of signing Aguero to keep Messi at the club. Moreover, the Blaugrana has been missing the services of a proper striker ever since Luis Suarez left the club.
Manchester City must now deal with Aguero’s departure as a vacancy for a new striker has been opened up. Erling Haaland and Harry Kane are currently two of the better strikers in European football and are touted to fill in Aguero’s shoes.
Pep Guardiola did mention that signing a new striker in the light of the current financial situation is seemingly tough but probabilities can never be counted out. The Cityzens however, have got enough squad depth and talent to make it through the next season in case they opt for the option of not signing another striker. We have seen Ilkay Gundogan being employed in a false 9 role and flourishing and that well may be the case next season as well. Gabriel Jesus is also beginning to find his feet and he might prove to be one of the crucial set of players for the Sky Blues next season.
