Manchester City still in the race to sign Lionel Messi this summer
Lionel Messi has been linked with a move away from Barcelona since the start of this season and Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be the clubs that could potentially house the Argentine.
Messi, 33, still is one of the world’s best and continues to turn games on their head. In the recent past, the playmaker has upped his game and has been at his very best. Though he could not manage to get on the scoresheet in the remontada against Sevilla, he was one of the most influential players on the pitch that night.

Joan Laporta has been elected as the new president of Barcelona and sources close to Messi claim that the tailsman hasn’t yet decided on his future and the situation still remains unclear as per the Daily Mail. In other words, the re-election of Laporta hasn’t really troubled any feathers and the club’s best player could be seen leaving at the end of the season.
Jorge Messi, the 33-year-old’s agent and father, hasn’t yet opened any talks with either of the clubs.
Manchester City have been closely linked with the 33-year-old because of the player’s desire to find a winning project as his career enters into its dawn. Pep Guardiola was the manager who truly launched Messi and not to forget, alongside the 33-year-old, the Spaniard won two Champions League titles, a feat that he hasn’t been able to replicate in his tenures at Bayern Munich and now, Manchester City.
With a quadruple being very much on the cards for the Cityzens, the Sky Blues are one of the firm favourites to lift the coveted UEFA Champions League trophy this season.
Perhaps, the idea of a possible reunion with his former coach in Pep Guardiola might be tempting enough for the Argentine but the same can be said about a possible reunion with his former teammate and close friend, Neymar Jr., who is at PSG.
