Manchester City have been linked with Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku of Inter Milan. This is because the premier and record goal-scorer of the Cityzens in Sergio Aguero looks all set to leave the club at the end of this season after a period of 10 years. Naturally, the former Premier League champions have started to identify potential replacements for the 32-year-old.

Writing for CBS Sports, renowned transfer guru and journalist Fabrizio Romano explained why Manchester City will find it difficult to land Lukaku. Speaking about the potential deal, the journalist explained that the Nerazzurri have Romelu Lukaku until 2024 and it is highly unlikely that the former Serie A champions would want to part ways with the Belgian, especially after such solid displays this season.

Having said that, Inter have made it difficult for the other teams to land him by sticking a massive price tag of £93.75 million which is too big a sum in current times. The price tag alone would be sufficient to divert the attention of the former Premier League champions towards landing another one of their key target in Erling Haaland, who has been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium since the start of this season.

It is highly unlikely that the Cityzens would opt for Lukaku, 27, ahead of Haaland who is close to turning 21. While Lukaku has got some impressive figures to make up his case, his previous Premier League stint with rivals Manchester United was unsatisfactory and that is why he was sold to Inter Milan. Haaland is one for the future and the rate at which the Norwegian striker is going at the moment, he looks set to continue at the same pace for a very long time. In other words, City would be better off spending that big an amount on Haaland.

Moreover, it remains doubtful to imagine Lukaku coming back to the Premier League, having spent eight years in England.
