Manchester City suffer a blow in their pursuit of Serie A superstar
Manchester City have been dealt with a transfer blow as Lautaro Martinez has reportedly agreed to an extension at Inter Milan as per Four Four Two. The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the upcoming strikers in the game and was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona s well, last summer. The idea was to replace Sergio Aguero who looks set to leave the club at the end of this season, having missed most of this season due to injuries and illness.

Sergio Aguero is the record goal-scorer for the Cityzens with 256 goals. The Argentine is one of the most successful players at the club having won the Premier League four times. Gabriel Jesus was touted to be the one to replace Aguero at the club but the Brazilian has failed to live up to the expectations and it remains to be seen if that still is the case.
Four Four Two understands that Inter are ready to double the salary of the Argentine striker who has been linked with a move away from the Serie A in the recent past. Martinez’s deciding to stay means that the Sky Blues can now afford to fully shift their attention towards landing Erling Haaland, who has shown no signs of slowing down ever since he joined Dortmund.
The Norwegian striker is already one of the topmost strikers in European football at just 20 years of age and is still going strong.
Romelu Lukaku and Danny Ings have been in the form of their life and are linked with a move to Manchester City as well. It would be interesting to see if the former Premier League champions decide to wait for another year before making a move for Haaland, whose contract is rumored to contain a release clause worth £66 million, which gets activated in 2022.
This season is not over yet. Aguero can still make his case for another season with Manchester City and Gabriel Jesus will be given another chance. The Brazilian is back to scoring goals but it remains to be seen if he can continue doing that in the longer run, just like Aguero did.
