Manchester City targeting to land La Liga superstar for the next season
Manchester City need a striker and there shouldn’t be any doubts about that. Gabriel Jesus has been unsatisfactory this season and Sergio Aguero’s future is yet uncertain. Aguero is the leading marksman in City’s history and no doubt, the former Premier League champions will be looking to bring in a striker capable of emulating the Argentine’s goal-scoring capabilities. Reports from Todofichajes suggest that the Sky Blues are planning a summer swoop for Athletico Madrid’s Joao Felix.

Felix is regarded as one of the upcoming superstars of the game and is one of the brighter prospects in European football. Having said that, it is not going to be easy for Manchester City in any way. The 21-year-old is having a rather unsatisfactory season with nine goals and seven assists from 24 matches but in no way should that downgrade the vast potential that the Portuguese holds.
Athletico Madrid are open to the idea of selling one of their highly-rated players but at a fee in the range of €150 million. Having said that, it must be mentioned that Erling Haaland, is one of the most lethal strikers in the game at the moment and is ready to be on par with Kylian Mbappe. Having missed a part of this season due to an injury, Haaland is back at what he does best and that is scoring goals.
Now, here’s the fun part. Manchester City are tipped to be the favorites to land Erling Haaland because the player’s father Alf-Inge was a former Sky Blues player and the Cityzens are counting on the former Sky Blues player to convince the 20-year-old to come to the Etihad Stadium for the next season.
For now, however, the situation is highly complicated as Erling is content at Dortmund and looks set to continue for another season with the Bundesliga giants. Moreover, it is highly unlikely that City would try to land the Norweighean striker with the current terms in his contract which do not house a release clause. With respect to that, there is a rumored release clause that only comes into play in 2022 and it is said to be worth €65 million.
Both Haaland and Felix are pacy but the Premier League requires physicality and Haaland is better equipped than Felix at it. Not to forget, Felix’s numbers pale in comparison to Haaland’s.
Who would you rather see play for Manchester City? Is it Felix or is it Haaland?
