Manchester City are looking to sign Palmeiras’ latest sensation in Gabriel Veron. The 18-year-old is a versatile forward who can play in the middle while proving to be lethal on the wings as well. The Brazilian has managed to find the back of the net nine times in the 34 times that he has appeared for the club this season. The Cityzens are not alone, though. Rivals Manchester United and Catalan giants Barcelona also have the starlet on their radar. The Sun, however, reports that Barcelona have dropped out of the race to sign the youngster and it is now down to a transfer race between Manchester City and United for the 18-year-old.

Gabriel Jesus is not having the best of the seasons at the Etihad this time around but the 23-year-old has shown in the past about his capabilities and he is a product of Palmeiras as well.

The former Premier League champions paid a fee in the range of £28 million to land the striker back in 2016 and it is now believed that a similar sum may have to be shelled out if they are to land the 18-year-old.

Manchester United have been linked closely with Jadon Sancho and it is highly likely that Veron will be the last resort for the Red Devils. A summer move is on the cards for the English winger as the player is desperate for a move away from Dortmund and Manchester United stands as his preferred destination, though he was previously a part of Manchester City. Having said that, the equation for the Sky Bluesbecomes slightly easier to land the 18-year-old.

Veron is contracted at the club until 2025 and his release clause stands at £52 million. Therefore, Palmeiras cannot be cornered into selling the prospect and negotiations have to be carried out. Some reports suggest that the actual value of the 18-year-old is around the range of £17 million but one cannot be too sure.

With the winter window coming to a tame end, a highly promising summer window is on the cards for the Sky Blues. The former Premier League champions have been linked with a series of big names including the likes of Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland. Do you think the next summer window will be one of the greatest ever transfer seasons in Manchester City’s history?
