Manchester City have already shortlisted some key transfer targets for the summer for the next season.

Manuel Locatelli of Sassuolo has been a revelation when it comes to the midfield. The talented Italian midfielder has grabbed many eyeballs with his displays and fluid style of play.  Manchester City are hoping to solidify their midfield by bringing in the Italian superstar, as per the Daily Mail.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

Manuel Locatelli is a former AC Milan player and was loaned out to Sassuolo in 2018 as a part of a loan agreement. However, the deal was made permanent and since then, Locatelli has grown a lot. His contract at his current club expires only in 2023 and hence a decent sum will be needed to bring in the Italian for the next season. The Cityzens aren’t the only club that is monitoring the 23-year-old, however. AC Milan is looking to bring back one of its players and the player’s agent hasn’t ruled out a move back to the current league leaders in Serie A. Having said that, Locatelli is also open to a move abroad or to Juventus but nothing is concrete at the moment.

The race for the prospect is likely to get intense as if he hits a good run of form before the summer window, it is not going to be just Juventus, AC Milan, and Manchester City keeping an eye on the midfielder.

Manuel Locatelli will not only strengthen the midfield at Manchester City but will also increase the competition within the squad for a spot in the XI. With many years left in his career, the 23-year-old can still improve a lot, and working alongside Pep Guardiola might be a welcome experience for him.

The Sky Blues’ midfield is one of the stronger line-ups in European football at the moment and Phil Foden has hit a good run of form. Foden is expected to be the replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, for when he retires or leaves the club.

An asking fee in the range of £30 million can be expected for the midfielder. The Sky Blues are unlikely to initiate talks this winter but will continue to monitor the player until the summer, to say the least. Juventus tried to sign the 23-year-old but failed to do so. The player’s agent, however, has indirectly asked the Old Lady to try again this summer.

Do you think the Cityzens should try and sign Manuel Locatelli for the next season?
