Manchester City skipper Fernandinho is in the final year of his contract and he might leave the club at the end of this season.

It is no secret that Fernandinho is in the final year of his contract and at the age of 35, it is highly unlikely that Manchester City would like to renew his contract. The Brazilian midfielder has received several offers amidst reports linking him to a move away from the club at the end of the season.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

The 35-year-old’s agent has admitted these rumors and has indeed confirmed that they are true. Fernandinho has got offers from clubs in Europe as well as clubs in Brazil. It is believed that the 35-year-old might just consider a move back to his former club in Athletico, in Brazil. Having said that, it must be mentioned that he will be joining the club that he decides to, as a free agent.

Here’s what Fernandinho’s agent said about his client’s future:

"“We’ve received several proposals, good projects from Brazilian and European clubs for Fernandinho. He’s a phenomenal player and person.I believe it won’t be long before he knows what decision he’ll make. Everyone knows that Fernandinho has a great affection for Athletico [Paranaense, his former club] and the board. I, too, have an excellent relationship with President Mario Celso Petraglia.Conversations have always happened, but I can’t go ahead and say that we talk about values, for example. It hasn’t happened yet.I confess that it’s difficult to think of Fernandinho returning to Brazil and not playing for Athletico. But we have to wait, it’s a difficult decision, which he has to make with his family.Source: Globo Esporte"

Fernandinho has been nothing short of exceptional for the Cityzens. Appointed as the full-time skipper for this season, manager Pep Guardiola commended the defensive midfielder for his leadership skills and claimed that Fernandinho is an excellent leader. The 35-year-old has got 329 appearances next to his name and has been instrumental in delivering titles to Manchester City. Fernandinho has won three Premier League titles, five league cup titles, and an FA Cup. In the recently concluded Manchester Derby at the Carabao Cup semifinals, Fernandinho made the midfield area his own and scored a sensational goal for the Sky Blues and was instrumental in keeping a clean-sheet in the 2-0 win over their rivals.

There are two big question marks over the future of Manchester City’s two of the oldest players. Fernandinho is yet to decide but his situation is still a bit clearer than his teammate Sergio Aguero. The Argentine is in the final year of his contract too but there have been no signs of the 33-year-old being handed an extended stay at the club. There have been rumors linking Manchester City’s premier striker with Paris Saint-Germain. The Cityzens need to enter into negotiations with the Argentine soon as he is officially allowed to discuss pre-transfer terms with any club that comes his way.
