Sergio Aguero has firmly established himself as a club legend since his arrival at Manchester City nine years ago.

Having netted the ball a record 276 times from 359 appearances, Aguero has become a club legend at Manchester City. The Argentine has been critical in Manchester City winning 10 major titles since his arrival and is still a key member of the current Manchester City squad. Aguero, 33, runs out of a contract at the end of this season and is officially allowed to negotiate a pre-transfer agreement with a club, should any approach him. Having said that, in a recently concluded interview, football agent Bruno Satin claimed that Paris Saint-Germain are keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding Aguero’s future at Manchester City as they hope to land him in the summer.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

There have been no indications from the Cityzens about their intention to keep the 33-year-old at the club for the next season and this could be due to the fact that Sergio Aguero has made only five appearances this season, owing to recurrent injuries. Despite the player having made only five appearances, it is fair to say that it is not an easy decision for the former Premier League champions to make, and here’s why.

This season, Manchester City have looked good and are currently four points behind the league leaders in Liverpool, with a game in hand to go. Having said that, it must be mentioned that their defensive record this season is the best but the Sky Blues have struggled to find the net as often as they usually like to. Gabriel Jesus was touted as the replacement for Aguero but the Brazilian has struggled to find form this season and is now currently on the road to recovery after having contracted COVID-19. Aguero is the main striker for the Cityzens now and some pundits at the Etihad Stadium are down to wondering if Jesus could ever replicate Aguero’s performances for the Cityzens.

The former Premier League champions have been linked with Erling Braut Haaland as well but the 20-year-old is currently happy at Dortmund and a summer transfer for him looks highly unlikely. It is believed that a release clause worth £65 million in his contract will be activated only in 2022 and for a transfer before that, clubs would need to shell out a hefty sum to land the striker from Norweigh. Keeping the current financial situation of all the football clubs in mind, Dortmund are eager to keep their main-man and are expected to demand a massive sum for the striker. Manchester City might very well decide to wait until the activation of Haaland’s release clause and could well end up offering Aguero a new contract which would keep him for the next season, at least.

However, due to age, Aguero might be tempted with the lucrative contract that PSG might offer and with a squad as strong as the Parisians, Aguero would be winning Ligue 1 more often than he would win the Premier League at Manchester City. It is believed, however, that the 33-year-old wants to stay at the Etihad but nothing definitive can be said at the moment.

Do you think Manchester CIty should offer an extension to one of their club legends?
