Manchester City superstar is set to be Italy bound
Oleksandr Zinchenko arrived at Manchester City from Ukraine back in 2016. The left-back has made 76 appearances for the former Premier League champions thus far.
ZInchenko is a prospect for Manchester City but has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium. The position of the left-back still remains a matter of concern for Pep Guardiola as none of the players who have filled in that position have been able to cement their spot. Benjamin Mendy was supposed to make the left-flank in the defensive half his own but constant injuries coupled with poor form have been annoying for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City. With him only featuring twice in the Premier League this season and having made eight appearances overall, the 24-year-old continues to search for a steady flow of playtime. It is believed that Pep made it clear to the defender that he isn’t guaranteed a regular spot in the playing XI and that he was free to leave. The player, however, decided to stay and fight for his place. Having said that, as per La Lazio Siamo Noi, Lazio have been keeping a close watch on the situation and are eager to move for the left-back.

There is one problem, however. With the Ukrainian’s contract set to expire in 2024, Manchester City have put a price tag of £20 million for Zinchenko. The price tag might just prove to be a stumbling block for the Serie A side as they are not blessed with a big war-chest. Moreover, with the current financial situation in European football, £20m million is too big of an ask from Lazio.
Having said that, there will be negotiations if Lazio are sure about getting their man. Zinchenko has featured in some key fixtures this season, including the Carabao Cup Manchester Derby semi-final. This does indicate that Pep still has the 24-year-old in his plans and with the uncertainty surrounding the position of left-back, it is highly probable that Zinchenko will be given minutes in the coming games.
Manchester City have been linked with Renan Lodi but a winter move for the Atletico Madrid star seems difficult. The full-back is currently one of the best in Europe and it is natural that Atletico would not want to part ways with him in the middle of a season.
With the winter window into its second week, who do you think Manchester City must sign? Will Zinchenko be allowed to move?
