Manchester City set to enter a transfer race with Real Madrid for star winger
Shakthar Donetsk’s Cardoso Tete is apparently on the radar of Manchester City and Real Madrid.
Real Madrid had a really tough time qualifying for the next round of the UEFA Champions League. Much of this can be attributed to their 3-2 defeat to Shakthar Donetsk. More than the result, a certain player’s performance caught the eye of the reigning La Liga champions and Manchester City seems to stand impressed as well. Cardoso Tete was instrumental in handing down Real Madrid a shock defeat as the 20-year-old recorded an assist as well as a goal in that game. The player’s dream is to play in a Premier League team but his heart lies at Barcelona. The 20-year-old has got great affection for FC Barcelona and wants to play for the Blaugrana one day. Having said that, it can be fair to assume that he will not look to join Real Madrid out of respect for the team that he has adored since he was a child. This makes Manchester CIty’s job a lot easier.
The 20-year-old however, also mentioned his interest in playing for either Liverpool or Manchester United. These two teams are the direct rivals of Manchester City and the race to sign the youngster could well be a four-way deadlock. Manchester United have been very interested in bringing in Jadon Sancho from Dortmund but are reluctant to meet Dortmund’s asking price which is an excess of 100 million pounds for the English winger. Perhaps, they could replace their Sancho interest with Tete as he is touted as one for the future.
