Manchester City are about to enter the winter transfer market as they hope to bolster their squad in a bid to secure European glory.

Manchester City are about to enter the transfer market with a few objectives in mind. First up, the Cityzens will want to buy a full-back and possibly a striker too, given that Gabriel Jesus hasn’t hit top gear yet. In an episode of the ‘here we go’ podcast by Fabrizio Romano, the journalist revealed the plans of Manchester City for the next few months.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

In the 20th episode of the podcast, Romano revealed that the Sky Blues aren’t focusing too much on the winter market but the summer market. Apparently, the Cityzens are planning something big for the summer but what exactly is a question that remains to be answered. In recent weeks some big names have been associated with the former Premier League champions. The likes of Lionel Messi, David Alaba, and Erling Braut Haaland are among the stand-out ones.

Haaland is a lethal striker and has got some audacious stats to back him up. Close to becoming 21, Haaland has found the net 89 times which is a serious number. Perhaps, landing Haaland could be the ‘something big’ that City have been planning. A winter transfer for the Norweigan striker looks very unlikely as Dortmund are keen to latch on to him until the end of this season, at least. ‘

Lionel Messi on the other hand needs no real introduction as he is one of the best in the world at 33 years of age, if not the best. The Argentine has wanted to leave Barcelona in recent times but nothing can be said about his future anymore as the stalwart is keen on waiting until the end of this season. David Alaba has been having contract troubles at FC Bayern and with no mutual agreement being reached, the Austrian defender may well be on his way out at the end of this season as a free agent.

Renan Lodi is another player linked with a move to Manchester City as Benjamin Mendy’s constant injury woes coupled with poor form is proving to be a burden for Pep Guardiola despite the Spaniard backing him publicly on numerous occasions.

The current priority for Manchester City, however, is renewing the contracts of Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Stirling. Kevin is close to signing a new contract at the Etihad and is open to the idea of ending his career over there. Raheem Stirling has been one of the mainstays of the CIty attack and he has teamed up excellently with Kevin de Bruyne at the heart of the attack.

All this is just mere speculation at this stage but with just a day to go before the winter window opens, nothing accurate can be said in any way. Things can change in mere seconds and the Sky Blues may well end up doing something unexpected. However, with the current financial situation, it can be said that the former Premier League champions will not look to splash much cash in the coming weeks.
