The contract situation of David Alaba at the Allianz Arena has reached no mutual conclusion and the deadlock has continued. The defender is one foot outside the door.

David Alaba is a very adaptive player who can play almost anywhere on the backline and provide the manager with results. Having already managed him once, Pep Guardiola will not be bummed about a reunion with his former subordinate. The player’s wage demands have forced Bayern Munich to stop negotiating with him and the Austrian International will be able to walk out as a free agent at the end of this season. Having said that, there have been rumors surrounding the player’s future and some have even gone to the extent of indicating that offers from Manchester City and Manchester United have been submitted to Pini Zahavi (David Alaba’s agent) but Christian Falk has shot them down. Falk, however, disclosed that Zahavi is open to negotiating with the two clubs from Manchester this winter window and talks will be open to the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea as well.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

There are currently two first-team quality left-backs in Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko at Manchester City. ZInchenko has found it hard to find enough playing time this season as he has featured only for 12 minutes in this season thus far. Pep Guardiola did give him the option to leave the club in a bid to find adequate playtime elsewhere. The Ukrainian international, however, decided to stay and fight for his place in the XI.

The player’s strong resolve to stay is unlikely to stop Manchester City from submitting an offer to David Alaba. Should that happen, one can expect to see Zinchenko’s name in the transfer list in the coming winter window.

The coming weeks are very crucial for Manchester City as a number of players are tipped to join the Sky Blues. Lionel Messi, Erling Braut Haaland, David Alaba are among the names that have been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium. Lionel Messi is perhaps the biggest name on that list and one can expect the Cityzens to prioritize securing his signature above all.

The team is currently in a good place as the Cityzens are beginning to find some momentum. Their goal-scoring powers have hit a low this season but the former Premier League champions are expected to find their way out of the rubble.
