Pep Guardiola makes a massive statement when asked about a possible transfer swoop
Manchester City’s goal-scoring form has been a cause of concern for Pep Guardiola but the Spaniard insists on not entering the transfer market at the moment.
An experienced and world-class manager knows the best when it is time to panic and knows when not to. Pep Guardiola, despite being frustrated with his team’s inefficiency in front of the goal, isn’t panicking. Manchester City have scored only 19 goals from 13 games. last season, at the same stage, the Cityzens were high-flying in front of the goal at 37 goals from 13 games. That is a big drop in numbers. Normally, this would force any team to turn to the transfer market but as per Goal, Pep Guardiola doesn’t see any sense in turning to the transfer market. The Spaniard has decided to put faith in Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero and insists that his team just lacks the momentum required to bring in a steady flow of goals.

The defense, however, has compensated very well for the attack’s shortcomings and has managed to concede only one goal from their last eight games in the Premier League and in the UEFA Champions League. Ruben Dias has been the heart of the defense and has done very well for Manchester City up until this point. It’ll be interesting to see if he can carry on like this for the majority of the season.
Manchester City have been closely linked to Erling Braut Haaland but a winter deal looks very unlikely as Pep Guardiola himself admitted that Manchester CIty’s finances have been hit by the ongoing pandemic, like any other team. However, if there is one thing that the Cityzens can count on is bringing in Lionel Messi on a pre-transfer agreement. The Argentine wants to leave Barcelona and Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are the two teams in pole position to land him. Mind you, it is going to be a free transfer if Messi does decide to leave at the end of the season.
