With the ‘El Mago’ having departed the club this summer window, Pep Guardiola is on the lookout for the Spaniard’s replacement. Kang-In Lee is a midfield prodigy who can adapt as per the situation and can play as a winger as well. The South Korean has had a significant impact this season with three assists from nine appearances. Should this move be completed, it will be the second transfer of a player from Valencia to the Etihad stadium in successive transfer windows. As you guessed it right, Ferran Torres was the player who arrived from Valencia in the recently concluded summer window.
Manchester City must be cautious in splashing their funds as they have been linked closely with two key targets in Lionel Messi and Erling Braut Haaland. Lionel Messi is close to a Barcelona departure and the former Premier League champions have been touted as the next possible destination for the Argentine. Coming to BVB Dortmund’s Haaland, the striker is unlikely to join the Citzyens in the winter window as Dortmund are eager to cash-in on their young talent before the release clause of 65 million pounds gets activated in the 20-year-old’s contract at the end if the season.
Kang-In Lee has got about 18 months left in his contract and can be signed for free in the summer window of 2022, should he decide to wait for Manchester City. However, if Manchester City does decide to play the waiting game, they will risk losing the player to other potential suitors if they do arise. In the meantime, Valencia are likely to give an ear to the offers that come their way to avoid the possibility of having to let go of the starlet for free or for a low sum.
Manchester City’s attack has lacked the flair that we’re so used to seeing, this season. Keeping that in mind, Pep Guardiola should target the players who will create chances and the ones who will score goals. Gabriel Jesus is out of form and Sergio Aguero is close to recovery from his knee injury. The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss is likely to back the 23-year-old striker from Brazil despite his poor run in the past few weeks.
Manchester City are currently fighting to get back to a winning momentum in a bid to pose a threat to Liverpool and Spurs for the title. The clash against Southampton is going to be a key one for the Sky Blues who are in desperate need of a win.
