Manchester City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko has hardly featured this season and he is now in the transfer market with as many as four teams keeping tabs on him.

With some heavy competition for a spot in the backline of the Sky Blues, Zinchenko has been left with nothing but options to evaluate for the sake of his future. With the Ukrainian featuring only five times for Manchester City this season, he has been on the field for a collective total of 12 minutes. Keeping this in mind, Premier League sides such as Wolves, Southampton, Leicester, and West Ham United have been keeping close tabs on the 24-year-old, keeping in mind the fast-approaching winter window, as per Daily Mail.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

The former Premier League champions’ defense has come good this season apart from the occasional hiccups. With them placed in the ninth position, the Sky Blues cannot afford to have any more let-downs in their approach as only a series of wins will place them in contention for the title.

Benjamin Mendy has been a regular starter for Pep Guardiola. This means that Zinchenko is now serving the role of a backup player. The likes of Joao Cancelo and Nathan Ake have emerged as the new center-backs and John Stones has been moving up the order as well.

Apparently, Pep Guardiola has had a conversation with the Ukrainian where he was told that he could miss out on playing time at the Etihad stadium with no guarantee of his place in the XI. Having said that, the 24-year-old has also been given the option of fighting for his place in the XI.

It must be mentioned that in 2018, Oleksandr Zinchenko had an opportunity to move to the Wolverhampton Wanderers but he turned it down. Two years have elapsed since then but the interest in the left-back remains the same for Wolves. With the think-tank at the Molineux stadium still keeping a keen eye on the 24-year-old, it’ll be interesting to see if Zinchenko does decide to move to the West Midlands. It is believed that there are offers from Russia as well.

dark. Next. Lionel Messi is closer than ever to a move to Manchester City

Finding an adequate suitor for the 24-year-old is not an issue for Manchester City as they are likely to accept any suitable offer that comes their way. With the option of having to fight for his place in the squad, it will be a test for the Ukrainian’s character to bounce back from this rut. The SKy Blues need to offload a few players in the winter window in a bid to free up some funds as they are being closely linked with Lionel Messi and Erling Braut Haaland as well.

With four years left in his contract, Manchester  City can expect a decent sum for the defender.

The 24-year-old has featured a total of 73 times for the former Premier League champions and was consequently rewarded with a contract extension last June. Only time will tell us if he does decide to fight for his place in Pep’s XI for the upcoming games.

With the winter window fast approaching, do you think Manchester City should consider selling off Oleksandr Zinchenko or should Pep Guardiola give him another chance?
