The story of Manchester City and Eric Garcia has been a rather strange one, in the last few months.
The 19-year-old has denied a contract extension at the Etihad Stadium as he looks to return to his former club in Barcelona. The La Liga giants are interested in bringing back their former La Masia graduate to the Camp Nou. Caught offside reports that Barcelona are set to welcome a new contender to land the Spaniard and it is none other than the team that ended the former La Liga champions’ 2018/19 UEFA Champions League campaign, Liverpool.

Naturally, Manchester City are going to take whatever sum that meets their demand for selling the defense lest the former Premier League champions risk losing their center-back for free at the end of the season. It is believed that the Cityzens have put a valuation of 20 million pounds on the 19-year-old, a sum that the Blaugrana has failed to meet. If this is true, Barcelona and Manchester City might not be able to come to terms in the coming winter window.
Liverpool on the other hand, with their ongoing injury crisis, are eager to sign a defender and Eric Garcia is someone who has been showing a lot of promise and potential. Manchester City might just hesitate a bit to sell their youngster to their counterparts.
It is a well-known fact that the player is eager to join Barcelona and might just wait for his contract to run out, in case the Blaugrana might not find themselves in a position to pay the asking fee of Manchester City. While the Reds have been linked with the former La Masia graduate, it is highly unlikely that they are going to succeed in landing the 19-year-old.
Manchester City will be desperate to reach an agreement with Barcelona in the coming window lest they lose the player for free. A sum is better than no sum at all the Cityzens may be forced to reduce their asking fee by a notch. Moreover, they must ensure that they gain at least some funds by offloading a few players as the former Premier League champions are reportedly circling Erling Braut Haaland.
Haaland is going to expensive if the Sky Blues ever decide to go for him and they need to prepare their wallets from now. It is highly unlikely that Borussia Dortmund would want to enter negotiations regarding their main-man in the winter window. An end of the season transfer looks highly likely when it comes to Erling Haaland but nothing can be said for sure as things change in football in a matter of seconds.
