Who Could Man City Draw in the Champions League’s Round of 16?
Last week, Man City Square began to preview who Manchester City could face in the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League’s Round of 16.
The Sky Blues finished at the top of Group C, meaning they will be paired with one of the group stages’ second-placed teams. Man City will avoid Porto, as teams cannot face the runners-up in their own group, but who could City face in the competition’s Round of 16?
Final Second-Placed Finishers in this Season’s Group Stages:
Group A: Atlético de Madrid
Group B: Borussia Mönchengladbach
Group D: Atalanta
Group E: Sevilla
Group F: Lazio
Group G: Barcelona
Group H: RB Leipzig
Manchester City’s History with the Potential Opponents:
Manchester City will be most familiar with Atalanta, as the Sky Blues faced the Goddesses during last season’s group stages. Meanwhile, City faced both Sevilla and Borussia Mönchengladbach during the competition’s group stages back in the 2015/16 season.

While it has been some time, City would want to avoid a potential matchup against Atlético de Madrid or Barcelona. The Sky Blues struggled against both Spanish teams several years ago, and while their squads have dramatically changed, they would still cause City several problems.
Finally, a match-up against Lazio or RB Leipzig would be a new encounter for the Sky Blues. Lazio and RB Leipzig struggled in their respective groups, but they certainly will not be pushovers in the Round of 16.
Overall, Manchester City could face a variety of opponents in the competition’s next stage. Who will City draw on Monday?
