According to reports, if Manchester City’s Champions League ban is upheld, they will allow their all-time top goalscorer Sergio Agüero to leave the club this summer.

Manchester City are confident of overturning their two-year Champions League ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but should they fail, they will allow talisman Sergio Agüero to leave in the summer.

The 31-year old has previously stated that he will stay at the club until they win the Champions League, but as he ends the end of his prime, he could seek a move within Europe to try to lift the world’s biggest club competition with City banned. ‘

Agüero is City’s all-time leading goalscorer, and losing him along with fellow club legend David Silva would be a blow, but the club are confident that they will be able to keep together most of the squad.

The club are obviously keen to retain the Argentinian striker, but they do not plan to stand in his way if he seeks to remain in the Champions League after his nine years of service to the club.

I believe that although his departure would be upsetting, the fans would understand and be grateful for his incredible time at the club, including his legendary stoppage-time goal against QPR on the final day in 2012 to seal the club’s first ever Premier League title.

Whatever happens next, Agüero is one of the greatest to ever wear the sky blue shirt, and with 16 league goals, he is in the fight for just his second Golden Boot. It may be his final act, but that elusive European crown would be the perfect way to end a glorious run in Manchester.
