Ilkay Gundogan

Busy performance where he managed to control the ball for long periods, but it was the lack of movement around him in the attack and defence which caused problems. He is classy in possession and always looking to rotate the ball, but it seems some time since he has deadly in his shooting in open play. Had a couple of shooting opportunities but spurned them.

Kevin De Bruyne

Our leader on the pitch who is trying to drag the team along through effort alone. Worked hard, harried and gave it his all. Attempted a number of critical passes, some of which came off and some which did not. Was closely marked throughout and others did not help by not moving around, limiting his options. Spoke for every fan when Otamendi committed that foul.

Bernardo Silva

Busy and energetic. Got stuck in and pressed – but was often alone when doing so. City need to press in groups otherwise the energy is just wasted. His pressing unsettled the United backline and resulted in turn overs. Also came racing back to help the defence too.
