Man City Square look at three takeaways from the Manchester City win over Fulham in the 4th Round of the FA Cup.

The victory over Fulham by Manchester City at the weekend cemented passage to the next round of the FA Cup and ensured we have won our last 19 domestic Cup games – which seems like it should be a record at least. I am surprised there are not T shirts conveying the fact in the Club Shop, knowing how quick they are able to embrace a trend these days!

Without wishing to sound like one of those entitled Manchester United fans I grew up hating, the victory was a formality. It was just a question of how soon it would be secured and with how much effort.

That is not to say that Fulham were bad, because they were not. In fact, they looked better and stronger than many of the Premier League sides we have faced this season. They were quick and precise, lacking just two things. Firstly, like many Championship sides the lack of a quality striker is a defining characteristic and secondly they lacked an 11th player. The dismissal of their Captain after 6 minutes set the defeat in motion.

If anything the surprise was that it took so long to put the game fully to bed. Whilst City threatened to over run a beaten side, it did not happen. Instead we were content to keep the ball, lower the intensity and watch the clock. Sideways and backwards.

Yet for all of that progress it was a curious and deflating game for those Manchester City fans in attendance. So we look at three things to takeaway from watching the game again starting with the atmosphere.
