If Leroy Sané completes his move to Munich in the summer, Manchester City could look to replace him with another Bayern player: French winger Kingsley Coman, according to Sky Sports.
The rumors of star Manchester City winger Leroy Sané’s return to the Bundesliga have failed to cool off, forcing the club to look at several replacements. With names such as Mikel Oyarzabal, Jadon Sancho, and Ousmane Dembélé in the mix, a new target has emerged—current Bayern winger Kingsley Coman.
Coman, a former PSG and Juventus player who is still just 23 years of age, comes with serious pedigree but also some concerns. He is a highly-talented prospect with dribbling, vision, and pace, but has had an injury-riddled career that has yet to see him live up to his full potential.
Coman has not been as successful as Sané to this point in their respective careers. The Frenchman has a career 28 goals in 139 competitive fixtures for Bayern, while his counterpart has 39 goals in 134 games for City. That said, Coman does have the tools to be molded into a top player, although he has yet to realize the potential that has seen him feature for some of Europe’s top sides.
He has been productive in stretches of this season, although it may be fair to say that he has been outshone by his teammate and former Arsenal and West Brom winger Serge Gnabry, who won Bayern’s Player of the Season award for 2018/19.

Manager Pep Guardiola appears to be looking for world-class talents with potential that he can help maximize in his quest to replace his German sensation, assuming he does depart the club. Other than Oyazarbal, who is a more creative player out wide similar to fellow former Real Sociedad star Antoine Griezmann, Guardiola is seeking a player with pace, dribbling ability, and a directness in their play.
After helping transform Raheem Sterling into one of the world’s best wingers, the Catalan manager appears eager to do the same with another young player with high potential. In this vein, the link to Coman makes sense, as it feels very much like the Dembélé story, although I believe the Barcelona man is a better player.
City appear to be making the best of a difficult situation with one of the key cogs in their successes of the last two seasons. Although it will be difficult to find a replacement, the club has proven its ability time and time again to bring in elite talent and mold them into some of the world’s best players, and I don’t believe this will be any different, whoever City choose.
