Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson is proving without doubt that not only is he the best keeper in the Premier League, but in World Football too.

Every Manchester City football fan will have their favourite Ederson moment. There are quite simply so many to choose from, and they all tend to define the style of our fantastic team under Pep Guardiola.

Launching the ball to Sergio Aguero the full length of the pitch to achieve an assist. Chesting the ball to make a save. Turning in stunning saves at important times in a match. Bamboozling attackers with his nifty footwork, or even my personal favourite – taking a throw in, inside the opposition half, during a Cup Final!

Ederson is blessed with an abnormally high level of skill, he is the rarest of breeds of a goalkeeper – someone who is good enough on the ball to not only comfortably play outfield, but who could get into a lot of top sides as a player!

More from Man City Square

In the Summer he played a charity match back home in Brazil as a number 10. It will surprise no one that he scored during the game! In fact many of our fans, think it is likely that at some point he will score for City. And we are not talking about a penalty either!

In fact, Adele Burton – one of our readers over on our Facebook site – goes one step further and suggests he should be deployed during our current defensive crisis as a Centre Back and we should play Bravo in goal. That is certainly thinking outside of the box, but the thing is I have no doubt that Ederson could do that.

Usually when discussing Ederson it does not take long to start talking about how  cool he is under pressure. Blessed with some kind of lizard like composure, nothing seems to fluster him. Never scared and never hiding. Anyone with a neck covered in tattoos looking like South American gang member is probably unlikely to be shocked by much of anything.

This season, City have suffered some defensive frailties and consequently some different parts of Ederson’s game have been on display. Suddenly he seems to the pundits like more than a midfielder in goal. A proper shot stopper too.

He has shown an uncanny ability to keep the ball from hitting the back of the net. On occasion this has been nothing less than heroic. Double saves. Reaction saves. Even tipping the ball beyond the post at full stretch.

So to summarise, Ederson is part of the engine room of our playing style, releasing the ball for attacking moves and maintaining the possession under threat. He is doing this better than any keeper currently playing. Anyone who has watched City warm up before a game will see him taking part in the rondo passing and be as confident as any of the other players.

As a brave shot stopper he has proven second to none in the League, helping City to hold results when under pressure.

Next. Manchester City 3 Southampton 1. dark

A goal or another assist would be the icing on the cake – but we salute Ederson – the best keeper I have ever seen.
