Manchester City: The Sky Is Not Falling!
By David Crook
Manchester City lost to Wolves on Sunday and since then there have been millions of words tweeted, blogged and put into newspaper articles proclaiming- the sky is falling!
There was a moment on Sunday afternoon where #Pepout was actually trending on Twitter and it seemed to be a mixture of banter from other fans and some genuine over reaction by a few Manchester City fans.
Of course, no one likes a defeat, and as sure as eggs is eggs City will be defeated again. Now I am not claiming to know when that will be, but it could even be in the next game at Crystal Palace.
Either way we all may need to get a grip. And I realise that by saying that I stand to be accused of being some kind of apologist.

Now, I am not going to judge you for tweeting Pep out. Maybe that is how strongly you felt in the moment of defeat. The fact I did not feel that does not mean you care more than me or that I am any less valid in my feelings as a consequence.
What I do know for sure is that we have been blessed by this group of players and by Pep Guardiola who have taken us to another level of incredible performance over the last few seasons.
We have been watching a style of beautiful football unlike anything we have seen before. So many trophies and so many remarkable games.
Pundits and fans have sought to reduce though this beauty to a series of statistics. Ratings and passes, possession stats and even the dreaded Xg.
After a couple of losses, and what appears to be about our worst start to a season for a decade, some of these stats are being used to bludgeon individuals.
So and so has been in 70% of midfields when we lost and on and on it goes. An inquisition whereby in a desperate attempt to add clicks each stat becomes more alarmist.
Therein lies a problem for me as I tend to think of football as an art form rather than a science. This is the beautiful game and we may rehearse ways to play it, but fundamentally it is about genius and creation rather than spreadsheets and the litany of the mundane.
It is those 44 pass moves, those seconds as Aguero glides into position, that deft flick and the winner in the last seconds of the 94th minute of a match.
So let us celebrate the sacred and not mock the profane. Let us allow genius to sparkle into life and worship those moments which brighten our week.
The sky is not really falling, but rather than running around shouting, let us have the courage to focus on the beauty we see,and the fantastic moments we have shared because it will all be worth it for just one more chance to see another glimpse.
