In preparation for the opening Manchester City game away at West Ham United we talked to West Ham fans from the fansite Green St Hammers.

Manchester City sit on the cusp of an exciting new season and open the campaign playing away in London against a West Ham United side managed by ex City Manager, Manuel Pellegrini. We chatted to our friend @adamsmiiith who is the site expert over at Green St Hammers.

Man City Square: West Ham have strengthened some key areas in the Summer and I am tipping you for a top 7 finish. What are your season expectations for West Ham United?

Green St Hammers: Expectations this season are high after our play to end last season and with Marko Arnautovic gone and replaced. We were disappointed in our Cup performances last season so I would say a deep Cup run and a top-8 finish would be ideal for us.

More from Man City Square

Man City Square: Last season City finished well – what do you think City will do this season?

Green St Hammers: I think City are going to be atop the Premier League again this season. Your squad is too deep and too talented not to. I also think Liverpool will regress a bit making it a little less stressful than last year. You’ve added wisely this offseason too which should only help your case.

Man City Square: West Ham still look a little light up front. Do you think you will have enough goals to get results against top 6 sides?

Green St Hammers: Haller has goals all over him and new signee Albian Ajeti should be good cover for him, not to mention Chicharito on the last year of his deal. I think Haller is going to get a lot of attention for goals but look to Fornals and Lanzini to support the striker. Goals will come this season without a doubt for us.

Man City Square: Which West Ham player should we be keeping our eye on during the game?

Green St Hammers: The new guys, Haller and Fornals, should get some attention but Manuel Lanzini has been awesome in preseason, scoring relentlessly. Circle our Argentinian jewel as a goal threat for sure!

Man City Square:  Any particular City player you are worried about?

Green St Hammers: David Silva had that incredible goal in the Premier League Asia Trophy, but Aguero and Sterling have me most concerned, specifically Sterling. His speed and game-breaking ability is most concerning for our defenders. That’s who worries me the most, him and about ten other players on the pitch for you guys…

Man City Square: How do you feel the score will finish?

Green St Hammers: I am obviously hoping for a surprising West Ham win but I’ve lowered my expectations to a 2-2 draw. VAR could factor in in this match also which is an added element to the match. I would happily take a draw right now for the Hammers.
