Manchester City to Sign Felix Correia
By David Crook
If the media are to be believed then Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Portuguese wonderkid, Felix Correia from Sporting Lisbon for £3.1 million.
There have been steady streams of information in the Portuguese press highlighting how Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign the 18 year old attacker. There have even been the obligatory airport pictures showing Correia about to board a plane to Manchester!
The Press reports state the transfer fee which has been agreed, may actually increase to over £7 million if certain conditions are met.
Yet, the difficulty we have here is that no one really knows who on earth Correia is because of the absence of Youtube clips and fawning media articles. On that basis, when hearing we are linked to the purchase of a Portuguese wonder kid, it is hard not to think we may be buying the wrong one!
Frankly there are so many Portuguese wonder kids around it is probably an easy mistake to confuse your Felix’s!

In actual fact the reason why so little is known about Correia is because he is so young he has hardly played. His career has so far been confined to junior football at Sporting and representing his country in a succession of tournaments at different levels from Under 15 to Under 19.
What we do in fact know is he is an attacker who seems best to fit a Right Wing role. although can double up as a secondary striker.
Footballscoutnet have some more detailed information regarding Correia which fans may find illuminating. This describes him as a significant talent with a potential rating of 9 out of 10. That website goes on to liken him to Anthony Martial, although that may not thrill many City fans!
I guess what is clear to us avid City fans though is Correia is at best one for the future. Given his playing time has pretty much been restricted to youth football only, it is sensible to expect he would be loaned out to gain first team action following his signing.
Whether or not this particular player turns into an excellent purchase or not will remain to be seen.Until then, we shall just have to content ourselves with the fact we have apparently beaten Juventus and Barcelona to his signature.
