By David Crook
Man City Square reviews the performances of the Manchester City players in the Champions League win against Hoffenheim and selects a Man of the Match
Ederson
The attacking play of Hoffenheim ensured Ederson was busy. In addition to his usual distribution he made a number of important saves including one of genuine world class.
Player Rating 9
John Stones
He coped well with his role on the wing, although had a tendency to cut inside. Withdrawn at half time through minor injury.

Nicolas Otamendi
Captain for the day and lead the back line well. Unlucky not to add to his goal tally with a header which rebounded off the cross bar.
Player Rating 7
Aymeric Laporte
Assured distribution but put in difficulty a couple of times by Zinchenko. Gave away a soft penalty for a push and he will need to learn from this.
Player Rating 7
Oleks Zinchenko
Some good passing when moving forward but caught out of position on a couple of occasions.
Player Rating 6
Ilkay Gundogan
Comprehensive and assured range of passing, but can have a tendency to slow the rotation of play, unlike Fernandinho who manages to maintain the intensity.
Player Rating 8
Phil Foden
Foden looked unfazed by the requirements placed upon him and grew into the match as it progressed. He needs game time to continue his development as he clearly has the skill and attributes necessary.
Player Rating 8
Bernardo Silva
Industrious and all action display, but pushed off the ball a few times and caught upfield by a misplaced pass on occasion.
Player Rating 7
Raheem Sterling
Busy and classy display by Raheem. He ran and pace and made some good passes, which were unfortunately not scored.
Player Rating 8
Leroy Sane
A stand out performance from the best player on the pitch.
Player Rating 9
Gabriel Jesus
Back to his best with a busy attacking display. Good to see those dribbling skills being put to use. Needs a goal.
Player Rating 8
Substitutes
Kyle Walker
Solid display.
Player Rating 7
Fabian Delph
Little time to shine.
Player Rating 6
Vincent Kompany
Not enough time on the pitch to mark
Man of the Match
After his fantastic free kick and comprehensive attacking display, it can only be Leroy Sane.
