Manchester City Memorabilia

Next year Manchester City will mark their 125th anniversary since being formed. They can trace their history back further than that to St Mark’s Church in Gorton, Manchester in the 1870s but initially they played under a variety of names – before eventually being incorporated as Manchester City in 1894.

Since those very beginnings of the Club the fans have been ever present in large numbers supporting what was initially a local team. Of course our proud side first won a major trophy before any other of the current Premier League top 6 sides, but they all try and kid people that City have no history.

From humble beginnings to being a Club where it was rumoured 1 million fans celebrated the achievement of winning the 1904 FA Cup Final on the streets of Manchester.

These days since Manchester City were taken over by the Abu Dhabi Investment group in 2008 the glamour and appeal of the Club has grown exponentially.

More from Man City Square

Having won the Premier League 3 times in 7 years and now boasting the best squad and manager in World Football, there are now millions of City fans – cityzens – around the World.

ManCitySquare are proud to be part of this rich history of the Club and especially to celebrate these successes as part of the fan network. One way we wanted to do this was to share Manchester City’s rich history by looking at some of the unique fan memorabilia supporters have collected over the years.

So share with us the piece of memorabilia you are most proud of by dropping a tweet to us @ManCitySquare and we will share the best with fans across the World by featuring your memorabilia in a series of planned articles.

The piece of memorabilia doesn’t have to be a high value item, it may just be something which summarises your feelings for the Club – a treasured scarf, a particular programme – anything. Send us a tweet and we will get back to you.

Hopefully we can build ourselves a little virtual museum of our favourites to share with fans as we prepare for our 125th birthday next year!
