The move will help both player and club

Marco Verratti’s transfer to Manchester City would be useful for the Italian, as well as the Premier League champions.

He wants away from PSG, meaning he is content with any top club. However at Manchester City the option of a top manager, title-winning experience and a quickly improving squad provides him the best chance to progress and become the star anticipated in his earlier years.

Game time at the Etihad may only be slightly compromised, as the team gets more competitive. Whether Pep Guardiola opts for Verratti over Fernandinho is a bridge he can cross when he gets to it.

But in the long term, the Italian would certainly form part of Manchester City’s lineup. Even if he has to play a fringe role in his first couple of seasons, the ageing duo Fernandinho and David Silva will vacate space for him.

And his predicament at PSG suggests he would take a move willingly. The Parisians seem stubborn that they won’t allow Verratti to leave for anything under an extortionately heavy price tag.

More from Man City Transfer Rumors

City can match their demands, and will also be aided by the signing. As mentioned before, he supplies Guardiola with the midfield fortification he wanted when pursuing Jorginho. Moreover, Manchester City would have yet another quality player in their ranks, and that is encouraging for factors outside of the football.

Verratti has been in the Champions League limelight in the years PSG have tried and failed to match the best in Europe. His demand for European action will be met at Manchester City, and on the flip side City’s chances in the Champions League should be bolstered by having another experienced player on the side.

It is a move that could take City’s transfer business to its pinnacle this summer. Guardiola has resisted the temptation to splash out for a second successive year, but the urge here could prove too much.
