In the end it was an easy day at the Etihad for the Blues. It seemed the three-day rest afforded to the playing staff by Pep Guardiola did the side some good. The first half started brightly with Raheem Sterling netting in only three minutes.

From there, it seemed City took their foot off the gas a little as Leicester entered half time on level terms. In the second half, it was the Aguero Show as the Argentinian scored four goals. Credit should also go to KDB though for his hat trick of assists. But how did the players do?

Ederson – 8.

As expected, Leicester liked those balls over the top of the opposition defence into space. That is something Jamie Vardy enjoys, and with his pace, exploits perfectly. Ederson was up to the task of being that sweeper, quick off his line on numerous occasions.

He did concede a goal, but a deflection gave him no chance to really do anything about that.

Walker – 7.

Lively, once more, down the right wing. Didn’t really do much note worthy but was a professional performance. Was at the back when needed and got forward when he could.

Laporte – 6.

Second game for the new signing and he looked quite comfortable. Was left back tracking for the Vardy goal, before deflecting it past Ederson. He will learn from this and I am excited to see how he progresses in this League.

Otamendi – 5.

Such a great performer throughout the whole season so far. However December’s Etihad player of the month and ‘General’ didn’t have the best of games today. A poor pass across the field let Vardy a free run to score the goal.

Zinchenko – 6.

Another fairly decent performance from the young Ukrainian who is making quite the statement. Withdrawn by Pep twenty minutes into the second half he had put in quite the shift down the left.

Fernandinho – 7.

Another great enforcer performance from the Brazilian. For the most part, he saw Leicester danger early and cut it out and put a few good balls forward too.

De Bruyne – 9.

Personally my man of the match. The first two goals were handed to Sterling and Aguero on a plate. Assisted in a third goal the Belgian midfielder was back to pulling the strings.

Gundogan – 7.

Showing in game after game what a player he can be. Today was another example of that. For all of the plaudits KDB and Fernandinho receive, it is not possible without the work the German does.

Bernardo – 8.

Fantastic performance with a goal the only thing missing. Looked good down the right and fought for balls with an unwavering energy. Coming into form at the right time he could be one of the players to help City on all four fronts.

More from Man City Square

Sterling – 7.

Saw the good and bad of Raheem once more. It was certainly good to see him get that early goal, which was a good response to last weeks miss.

At the other end of his game he did go down quite easily in the area. I remember twice with neither being given, and no real appeals from other City players.

Aguero – 8.

Seems funny that the guy who scored four only gets an eight rating. The Argentine striker did well to have the quick mind to chip Schmeichel before that 90th minute thunderbolt. An early contender for goal of the month.

The reason I was hesitant about giving him the same rating as KDB is for his first half performance. At the half, I only had him between a five and six, due to his lack of impact.

Danilo (sub on 65) – 7.

Came on for Zinchenko and did a good job. Will he be starting the upcoming Champions League fixture? Possibly. The guy is also now starting to put in a shift when he’s asked, and seems to have a decent attitude.

Foden (sub on 80) – 7.

Good to see the young man back to first team football. Got around ten minutes of action, and did well. Bouncing off defenders in the area before eventually the ball got back to Aguero for the fifth goal.

Stones (sub on 81) – 6.

Not really much for the young English defender to do. However we did get to see our center back pairing for the next decade.
